Mixed media artist Devin N. Morris (b. 1986) explores collage making through painting, photography, writings, and video. His works prioritize displays of personal innocence and acts of kindness within surreal landscapes and elaborate draped environments.The work is made during its process, the resulting images reflect the artist's engagement with changing environments where space, kinship, social interrogation and available materialities are explored and reflected.

Recent exhibitions include solo presentations On Paper at Deli Gallery, NY (2021) and Play Too Much at Baby Company, NY (2019), and group exhibitions No Place curated by Eden Deering at PPOW, NY; The Skin I Live In at Lyles and King, NY; and Potemkin/Body curated by Ramsay Kolber at Lubov, NY.   Morris was also included in The Aesthetics of Matter, the first NYC curatorial project by Deux Femme Noires: Mickalene Thomas and Racquel Chevremont. He was featured in the New Museum’s MOTHA and Chris E. Vargas: Consciousness Razing—The Stonewall Re-Memorialization Project, and the two-person show, Inside Out, Here, at La Mama Gallery, curated by Eric Booker (Studio Museum, Exhibition Coordinator).

Morris is the founder of 3 Dot Zine, a publication and public forum for marginalized concerns. He recently hosted the Brown Paper Zine & Small Press Fair with the Studio Museum in Harlem and created a site-specific installation at the MoMA PS1 2018 NY Art Book Fair. His 2017 solo show at Terrault Contemporary was listed in Artforum as the “Best of 2017,” and he was named by Time Magazine in 2017 as one of “12 African American Photographers You Should Follow.” Devin N. Morris was the recipient of the 2019 New York Artadia Award. Morris and a 2022-23 Artist-in-Residence at The Studio Museum in Harlem.
